Your work sounds like it spans very different tones and genres. What draws you to balancing social realism with sci-fi and comedy in your storytelling?

Thank you for your suggestions it was great meeting you.

When it comes to writing, I’ve always wanted to explore a new space I call the “Reality Genre,” where stories reflect the world as it truly is, without sugarcoating. I believe audiences today and in the future need honest, grounded narratives that act as a reality check. This idea was the driving force behind my first book, "Unsold Virgin".

With science fiction, I’m exploring a different question: if humanity were to start again from zero, how would we design our future? Would power structures still exist? How would human emotions evolve in such a world? I believe human emotions are at their most vulnerable in these scenarios, and that creates powerful, meaningful storytelling.

I’m still exploring these ideas, and I hope to one day fully realize this vision.

What has been the most important element for you in translating your personal and cultural experiences into something cinematic on the page and on screen?

Hey Ashley Renée Smith , thank you so much for the warm welcome — really appreciate it.

Honestly the most important element for me has been specificity. Not just “a Caribbean family” or “an immigrant story” — but this family. This drum. This subway station. This specific silence between a father and a daughter who love each other but don’t fully see each other yet.

I’m Haitian. I grew up between two languages, two cultures, two versions of myself depending on the room I was in. That tension is something I know in my body. So when I write it, I’m not researching it — I’m just remembering it. And I think audiences feel that difference on screen whether they can name it or not.

The cinematic part comes from trusting that specificity to carry the emotion. I don’t need to explain the culture. I just need to show the drum, show the hands, show the daughter watching her father from a doorway — and let the audience find themselves in it.

As a director and writer, I’m currently developing a character-driven feature and navigating that space between creative development and the business side of things, so it’s always valuable to hear perspectives from professionals working with producers and financiers.

Hi Ashley Renée Smith , thank you for the warm welcome! To answer your question, the time element acts as a physical manifestation of my protagonist's inner conflict. It forces them to face their past mistakes literally, making the 'inner struggle' an external race against time. I'm excited to dive into the lounges and connect with the community!

Nice to meet you! That’s really impressive—starting filmmaking and screenwriting at 15 is amazing.

I also love thriller and drama because of the tension and emotional depth. Recently, I’ve been working on two projects: Mafia Queen, which is a crime thriller about revenge and secrets, and School of Terror, a suspense-driven story with dark twists.

One of my favorite movies is Inception—I really like how it blends suspense with deep storytelling.

Mafia Queen sounds so fun, what would you say is the central character’s main goal, and what’s standing in her way?

I love Inception too! I have a lot of favorite movies, I love sci-fis, but I also like R-rated movies like Pulp Fiction, Anora, Tangerine.

Your projects sounds great! I would like to watch them one day. I would like to write a screenplay, but I don't have "good" ideas (I have ideas, but I always find a problem in them :')) I'm thinking about finding a writing partner here.

Mafia Queen centers on a young woman named Claire whose main goal is to uncover the truth behind her parents’ murder and take control of the criminal empire that destroyed her family.

What stands in her way is the powerful and dangerous mafia organization responsible for their deaths, as well as betrayal from people she thought she could trust. As she rises in power, she also struggles with losing her humanity in the process.

I’ll definitely stay active in the lounges and connect with other creatives. Thanks again for the guidance!

Hi Imola, that’s awesome—we actually have similar taste in movies! I love how Inception plays with the mind, and Pulp Fiction’s storytelling style is really unique.

And honestly, having “imperfect” ideas is completely normal—that’s actually where great stories start. Every strong screenplay begins as a rough idea that gets refined over time.

If you’re open to it, I wouldn’t mind brainstorming ideas together or even collaborating on something. I’m currently working on projects like Mafia Queen and School of Terror, so I’m always in that creative space.

Either way, I think you should definitely start writing—don’t wait for a “perfect” idea, just build it as you go
