Spot on, Nicholas. If you don't connect with the emotional truth of your own characters, an executive or producer in the room won't either. When pitching my current thriller, The Venice Glass House, I realized that executives don't just buy the plot mechanics; they buy why you are the only person who could write this specific story. Your personal voice, your core theme, and your connection to the characters' drives are what turn a cold logline into a project people actually want to fund. Keep pushing forward!

As a writer, I always find that the most compelling characters aren't the ones chasing grand, external wealth, but the ones fighting an internal battle to figure out exactly what they can live without. I wanted to share a little background on our entry. I’m a special education teacher, and this 3D multimedia piece was a massive team effort created by my entire class and our paras, a behavioralist and even a volunteer mom over the last two years.

We wanted to tackle the reality of landfills, food waste, and methane gas by actually using "waste" to create art. We built the piece using a mix of plastic, styrofoam, cardboard, buttons, Legos, clay, film, and various scraps.

For us, this art is a "launching pad." It’s helping my students learn to express themselves while also laying the groundwork for two big projects: a TV show we’re making called Make a Difference and a documentary titled Wasted No More.

We were inspired by how butterflies fly—they flap their wings in a slanted figure-eight pattern to create the air pressure they need to rise. That’s exactly what this project has done for my students; it’s created the momentum they need to find their voices and take flight.

Well I was always getting in trouble for self promo every time I tired to talk about myself anywhere on this site. Darrell Pennington the book is going to be about music sync for composers, without giving too much away the expert who I am collabing with here has 30 years experience as a film composer and is completely knowledgeable and charming, super great to work with. I think with his charisma the book will do well, I really enjoy chatting with him and I have learned a ton as a composer myself eventually delving into sync eventually. Mike Hall was mentoring me a little and once I realized how briliant he is I had to interview him. Then that led to the book.

My name is Norbert Castro Sr., and I’m excited to finally be here.

I’m a screenwriter and author focused on high-stakes, emotionally driven genre stories — thrillers, action dramas, survival stories, political techno-thrillers, and character-driven stories where ordinary people are forced into impossible situations.

My work includes DACHIL: The Silent Coup, a political techno-thriller about AI, national security, and the dangerous line between protection and control. The screenplay placed as a Semifinalist at the Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards and later earned Quarterfinalist recognition. My screenplay Lawfully Yours also placed as a Quarterfinalist at the New York International Screenplay Awards.

I’m also developing several feature screenplays, including First Witness, Black Bear Ridge, Seven Days on Saipan, and Help Me Papa! Each one explores survival, loyalty, justice, family, and what people become when the world pushes them past their limit.

Before writing full-time, I spent 36 years as a letter carrier, and I believe that experience shaped the way I see people, neighborhoods, struggle, sacrifice, and resilience.

I’m here to connect with other writers, producers, managers, filmmakers, and creatives who love bold stories with real emotional stakes. I’m looking forward to learning, sharing, supporting others, and building genuine industry relationships.

Hi! I really enjoyed your post and I liked your focus on emotionally driven genre storytelling.

I’m an emerging Italian filmmaker and screenwriter currently based in Toronto. I finished my first short film not long ago and I’m currently developing new stories, mainly horror and thriller projects with an Italian soul at their core.

I often find myself drawn to recurring themes and imagery in my work: animals, instinctive forces, and symbolic or esoteric elements that seem to naturally find their way into my stories.
