Bring Your Questions: Join Us for the FREE Stage 32 Community Open House

Wednesday, September 23rd at 12:00pm PT

You have questions. You're curious about how to actually make the most of your time on Stage 32, how to use the resources here successfully, how to build genuine relationships that lead somewhere meaningful, and how to move forward with real intention. How to find the right collaborators, producers, financiers, reps, distributors, etc.

That's exactly what this FREE event is designed for.

Our Community Open House is a live, fully interactive conversation hosted by me, Ashley Smith, Head of Community here at Stage 32. It's a genuine gathering where you get to show up, share what you're working on, ask the questions that have been on your mind, and get direct guidance tailored to where you actually are in your journey.

Whether you've attended one before or this is your first, the conversation is different every single time. It's shaped by the members who take the time to join, be present, and bring their real questions to the table. Your voice, your goals, and your curiosity make each Open House uniquely valuable.

We'll cover the tools and features on Stage 32 that most consistently create momentum for members, and we'll talk about what's happening on the platform that you don't want to miss out on. September lands us in a genuinely exciting stretch of the year. We're coming off Venice and Toronto International, in the middle of New York Film Festival, heading into Austin Film Festival, and gearing up for our annual November Write Club campaign. There's real opportunity to position yourself for what's ahead, and we'll talk about how to do exactly that.

We'll close with a live Q&A focused entirely on you, your questions, your projects, and your next steps. And if you can't join us live, don't worry! Registering guarantees you the full recording so you can watch it anytime, from anywhere.

Come as you are. Bring your questions. Let's have a real conversation.

Writers beware

I want to make everyone on Stage 32 aware of a scam being perpetated by anr imposter posing as a real, well known Film Producer. By stealing this Producer's identity, he was phishing Stage 33 Writers to submit treatments, plot synopsis, scripts and screen plays to produce. Once I realized the Lloyd...

Yup. Any producer who asks for money is not legit.

Here's a tip I learned when I (unrelated to Stage 32) received an unsolicited job offer that seemed too good to be true, btw that's usually the 1st clue, if it's too good to be true, I took screenshot...

Thanks Suzanne. I wished it hadn't happened, but it did. Report it, spread the word and learn from it. For me, that's all I can do and if I helped just 1 person from having that happen...I can be proud I was able to do ot.

I recently received a message from Christian Sarabia wanting to connect and review projects - wondering if anyone has dealt with him. So sad that it has come to not trusting ANYONE who reaches out on this platform. You never know who is really legit. Thanks.

Hey Lord

Hey Lord is a soulful, slightly gritty alternative pop-rock song that imagines God coming down to Earth to see what humanity has done with His creation. Disguised in a cheap polyester suit and accompanied by Gabriel, He wanders into a nightclub expecting the unexpected—and discovers something rather...

What Are Some Movie Quirks That Make You Cringe?

For me, when a character has a fully loaded backpack and the character only uses one strap.  As an avid hiker and backpacker, every time I see a character do this in a movie or series, I am just filled with loathing.

Thanks, Ian. I just tried updating my profile again and got the same error message. Will definitely email support tomorrow.

Symbolization

You know how there are many shows and movies that feature some kind of symbolism or moments that have significant meanings, is that intentional or do the writers, directors, and producers make them unintentionally?

So Much

With so many books and movies out there it would be impossible to see them all.

Poster designer doubts

A prod. asks me how much I charge for making a movie poster in order to fulfill their distribution set...

I should say:

a) It depends on your BUDGET

(does it worth to ask xK ifthey only have 700 bucks of budget?)

b) just the price it gets

c) other?

Let me know what you think,

ciao!

Zoltán Varga

I wouldn’t price it based purely on their production budget. I’d price the actual work: scope, number of concepts, revisions, deliverables and usage. A $700 film can still ask for a lot of work.

Ugo Cavallo

that sounds savvy, thanks for the reply

I like revivals

I learned Disney is reviving one of my favorite shows, Gargoyles. I loved that show; I am curious to see where they will go with it.

I would like to work with Disney in reviving some of my favorite shows like So Weird but as a horror anthology like American Horror Stories with spin-offs.
