Job post monitoring

There are those of us who occasionally find a valid paid post on the jobs board for screenwriter (or other crew). However, the board is cluttered by those seeking investors, selling their services or offering no pay, deferred pay, total back-end, or requesting a bake-off or some other violation of e...

I agree that clearer separation would help. Paid jobs, unpaid collaborations, investment opportunities and people offering services are very different things, and putting them all in the same stream m...

Former Smashwords Authors: A Heads-Up About Draft2Digital's New Annual Fee

I wanted to pass along a heads-up for anyone here who previously published through Smashwords and, like me, may not have been paying particularly close attention to what happened to their account after Draft2Digital acquired the company.

This morning I received an email from Draft2Digital informing m...

Movie Pitch Deck feedback

Not sure if this is the lounge to post this in but I was wondering if anybody would be interested in giving me feedback on my pitch deck for a sports/drama feature film: Nevaeh.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Michael Bryan, consider choosing between a story overview and a synopsis rather than including both. Make sure your main characters have descriptions that explain who they are and their relevanc...

Lance Cowan is on a roll. A music publicist for decades, he only recently reinvented himself as a folk/Americana recording artist. But he has now issued three excellent albums and the latest of these…

I lost my wood in the city

(experimental photo album shoot by’ koby) I feel utterly lost. Around me, the city has gradually lost all its color. The air has become heavy, sticky, almost impossible to breathe. It's a space saturated with bad things that seep in and cloud my mind: the din of stress, the dizzying anxiety about th...

Writers beware

I want to make everyone on Stage 32 aware of a scam being perpetated by anr imposter posing as a real, well known Film Producer. By stealing this Producer's identity, he was phishing Stage 33 Writers to submit treatments, plot synopsis, scripts and screen plays to produce. Once I realized the Lloyd...

Screenplay Competition Success History Based on Genre

Coverfly used to have a great tool for competitions called "insights," where you could see how different genres historically placed in certain screenplay competitions/festivals and gauge your chances of success as well as preview any public scripts which placed in those competitions previously.

Hey everyone,

Obsession

I just watched OBSESSION to see what all the fuss is about. I don't usually watch these types of movies, also, how many movies about "obsessive love" can people write? I have to say... I enjoyed it. CREEPY, yes. Great acting, great script, great experience.

Michael Dzurak

"Obsessive love" is a determined force thus ripe for difficult and explosive situations. Similiar reason there are many heist movies. When a lot of things can go wrong or unexpected, it's ripe for a story.

i love this one too <3

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Minh Nguyen. That photo is incredible too! That one and the photo of the woman holding the bag (the picture above my first comment) are my favorites.

Michael Dzurak

Very cool photos, Minh Nguyen! You've got a good eye.

Disney and TikTok

I saw an article showing Disney was entering some kind of deal with TikTok. What kind of deal would it be, and how will it affect or help the company?

Also, can anyone use it?

Lindbergh Hollingsworth

Kevin did you look this up? If you hear something cool, take a minute to look it up.

Kevin Hager

I did, and I still don't understand it.

Zoltan Varga

It’s an interesting move. Disney is essentially opening parts of its IP to selected TikTok creators, with some of that content potentially appearing on Disney+ as well. The key detail is “selected creators” it doesn’t appear to be something everyone can freely use.
