Bring Your Questions: Join Us for the FREE Stage 32 Community Open House

Wednesday, September 23rd at 12:00pm PT

You have questions. You're curious about how to actually make the most of your time on Stage 32, how to use the resources here successfully, how to build genuine relationships that lead somewhere meaningful, and how to move forward with real intention. How to find the right collaborators, producers, financiers, reps, distributors, etc.

That's exactly what this FREE event is designed for.

Our Community Open House is a live, fully interactive conversation hosted by me, Ashley Smith, Head of Community here at Stage 32. It's a genuine gathering where you get to show up, share what you're working on, ask the questions that have been on your mind, and get direct guidance tailored to where you actually are in your journey.

Whether you've attended one before or this is your first, the conversation is different every single time. It's shaped by the members who take the time to join, be present, and bring their real questions to the table. Your voice, your goals, and your curiosity make each Open House uniquely valuable.

We'll cover the tools and features on Stage 32 that most consistently create momentum for members, and we'll talk about what's happening on the platform that you don't want to miss out on. September lands us in a genuinely exciting stretch of the year. We're coming off Venice and Toronto International, in the middle of New York Film Festival, heading into Austin Film Festival, and gearing up for our annual November Write Club campaign. There's real opportunity to position yourself for what's ahead, and we'll talk about how to do exactly that.

We'll close with a live Q&A focused entirely on you, your questions, your projects, and your next steps. And if you can't join us live, don't worry! Registering guarantees you the full recording so you can watch it anytime, from anywhere.

Come as you are. Bring your questions. Let's have a real conversation.

Amazing news

How many remember Disney's Gargoyles? It was one of my favorite shows. I learned it's getting a revival. I would like to help with the revival. In fact, I really think they should revive American Dragon: Jake Long and the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series as well. I would like to suggest these to Disney and how they could work.

Scammer alert

Be advised, everybody. There's a scammer going around impersonating a producer named Lloyd Segan by making fake accounts and sending networking requests. Should you accept, he'll then try to scam you out of your money and project material by sending you an email like this:

Hello [REDACTED],

Thank you...

Kenny Ortega, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Tim Federle

I learned that producers and musicians Kenny Ortega, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Tim Federle have had several collaborations with Disney. I would like to know how to meet or contact them. I have ideas for Disney that could be of interest to them, and some new talent to show them.

So please, I ask you my...

What Are Some Movie Quirks That Make You Cringe?

For me, when a character has a fully loaded backpack and the character only uses one strap.  As an avid hiker and backpacker, every time I see a character do this in a movie or series, I am just filled with loathing.

Knowing what really happens when people drown, I just can't take the screaming and flailing moments seriously anymore.

Writers beware

I want to make everyone on Stage 32 aware of a scam being perpetated by anr imposter posing as a real, well known Film Producer. By stealing this Producer's identity, he was phishing Stage 33 Writers to submit treatments, plot synopsis, scripts and screen plays to produce. Once I realized the Lloyd...

It says "Producer" and "Screenwriter" hilarious! That is like the emails addressed "Dear" hahaha Ask for a Zoom call.

Christopher Redwine

This scammer just contacted me with the same emails in the last few days.

I received the same message yesterday that Tom Pratt posted above from Lloyd Segan. It was odd as the message read, "Thank you for reaching out." I never reached out to that mofo. I replied back, no thanks.

Smart info. Jose Cruz ! This is all part of statistics for everyone to note with others!

Log out problem

When I use Stage32, I don't log out afterwards. But I have noticed something odd. Sometimes I must log in when I return after an hour, while in other cases i need not to log in again even though I have been away for days. And yesterday it became very strange. I was in the screenwriting lounge. I wro...

Movie Pitch Deck feedback

I was wondering if anybody would be willing to give me some feedback on my movie pitch deck for my horror/thriller: The Commune.

Thanks in advance....

The visual style is great, but could use more blurbs about the characters and story world. Treat pitch deck like a trailer. In that, we can see the characters do things, so in a pitch deck we need to be told. Likewise about the world. You can convey your themes in the world blurb.

New Score Composition for an Animated Short (not selling it, just showing my work

Hi all!,

Recently finished composing the music and adding some vocals for this animated short film by Blender via TheCueTube. I worked really hard on it and am showing a lot of range with this one. I used Logic Pro with Native Instruments, played everything with my Keyboard, and mixed and mastered th...

The Mandala

Start by separating the ask into investor, customer, and supporter pathways. Investors need a recoupment model and evidence of repeatable audience demand; crowdfunding backers need a specific series, a transparent budget, and a clear delivery promise. A short proof of concept may serve both.

An ironic whitepill

Just happened upon this video a couple hours ago that despite painting a rather bleak picture, nonetheless made me even more determined to stick to my voice for writing (and also get back to reading actual physical books lol)

I've been doing mostly e-books and PDFs (scripts, articles, etc), but I like to feel of a real book. I read two graphic novels in late 2023. My current read queue is all digital.

Weird message - a scam?

Over the past two months I got a couple of messages from this guy who claims to be "Vincent Newman".

Good ol' Vince just hit me up with the initial email. Many thanks for starting this thread. I will forward the email to the gang at Stage32. He uses the email v.ncentnewman@gmail.com

On July 21 I wrote to Behr Abramson Levy Johnson, Vincent G. Newman’s legal reps, telling them what’s going on. I haven’t heard back from them.

Randall Allen Dunn

Thanks for reporting and checking this, everyone. I got the same email offer. So disappointing.

David Zuckerman

Be on the lookout; it appears as though this scammer has now taken the profile of "Lloyd Segan." He sent me a near-identical message to "Vince's" initial message. Stay vigilant, my friends.
