Anything Goes

If some of you have read what I have written previously, you may remember this is a second career for me. It is invariably interesting as to whom one may meet in this forum, as well as in the groups put together regularly to discuss a given subject. The sad point is finding that someone whom you met and with whom you thought you you had hit it off, fails to reply when contacted on a professional basis. For example, asking for advice from their experience of a given situation! This is not unusual however,.I found.It was the same in my previous career. What I learned however, was that sort of response was not harmful since it alerted me not to waste my time with them. What do I do? I dump them!!! There are always more fish in that ocean. Swim well, my friends.

I don't know if anyone else feels this way, this is just me letting off my frustration.

I have been on stage32 for the last year, while I find it helpful in the blogs and free classes they offer, I'm frustrated in that I can't afforded to participate in having my script read by executives, even the ones that charge $35 to pitch or $45 to read the first 10 pages, I'm disabled and on a fixed income, between what I get and what my wife makes there never seems to have enough left for even those and there is no way I can afforded the $200 to $500. Even to do QWA's you have to pay a monthly charge.

Don't get me wrong I think, Stage32 offers a great service, and I understand why they charge; they need to pay people and make money and that's great and I'm glad they are able to. I'm just frustrated that they don't offer something for those of us, like me, that can't get our scripts in front of Executives. I have been lucky in that I was able to get the first 10 pages read twice, with money that was gift to me, back when I first started.

I believe there are a lot of writers out there that don't have the funds to participate in all the services that Stage32 offers and that is disappointing. I'm sure there are a lot of amazing scripts by writers that are using stage32 but can't afford to pay to have their scripts read

being in my sixties and having worked in the industry for over 25 years, 15 of those years in Hollywood, i miss when you could get your script read and not have to pay for the privilege.

Again, I do not begrudge stage32 in any way and I think they offer a very valuable service. I just wish it worked for all of us.

I saw an article where Steven Spielberg says Hollywood needs new ideas, as depending on reboots, remakes, revivals, and sequels could limit creativity. Including franchises, how many believe that?

Though make no mistake, I enjoy franchises as the next person and would like to be part of them and contribute to them, and I also think people just want to see how far a story can go and find different ways to tell a story. I even have some ideas for revivals and sequels.

Maybe Stage 32 could invite Spielberg and others like George Lucas, Tim Burton, Robert Zemeckis, etc. and show them some original ideas.

What is need to reverse negative vibes?

Movie or show title: "Full Moon"

The full moon is about monsters and creatures that come out during a full moon but these creatures found the government and killed everyone so the united states fend for them self (the rest of the world doesn't know) The story follows a kid (who's parents got eaten by a monster, right Infront of him) he try's to find the government bomb that will kill all the monsters but the journey is bloody, gory ,and will make you poop yourself.

Feeling good. Yesterday I did my very first Breakfast show for an hour, on Radio Leyland - my local radio station. Ironically the practice the day before went perfectly - but there were 2 distractions this time, resulting in two very small gaps. Never mind. Had loads of praise for a first attempt… am busy planning now for next Tuesday morning! All in all a good day, having pitched my story for a TV show today, as well.

I‘ve a quick question for those of you who are attending the Cannes Film Festival or have been there before — especially those who have also experienced the American Pavilion membership:

This will be my fourth time in Cannes, my second time attending with a Marché du Film accreditation, and my first time joining the American Pavilion.

I’d love to hear about your experiences:

- What benefits did it bring you?

- What can I realistically expect & how would you describe the overall atmosphere in that environment?

For me, this year is mainly about exploring & getting a feel for how everything works — understanding the dynamics, experiencing the atmosphere & potentially making a few meaningful connections.

I may also speak about my current project, which is a proof-of-concept entering production in late summer, with the goal of submitting it to festivals once completed later in the year.

I want to raise awareness of a lot of issues like bullying, harassment, and relationship/domestic abuse, and I would like to work with actors who have had that experience. Like for example, Joshua Bassett of the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, I learned he experienced abuse as a child which is why I would like to work with him on something like this to raise awareness. I had a dream in which he as Ricky Bowen and HSM:TM:TS co-star Olivia Rodrigo as Nini Salazar-Roberts were running from something, and then they were sitting down watching emergency lights go by, then another was with Ricky coming to Nini's side after she collapsed. So, I figure it means Ricky finds out Nini is on a downward spiral and goes to California to help her. I would like to share this Tim Federle, Joshua Bassett and Olivia Rodrigo, to make a sequel special or sequel film to which Ricky goes to California to help Nini's family when she is on a downward spiral and finds her being abused. Is there a way to contact them and ask them of this?
