Anything Goes : Weird message - a scam? by Craig Urquhart

Weird message - a scam?

Over the past two months I got a couple of messages from this guy who claims to be "Vincent Newman".

I go to check today, and the latest one I got yesterday was deleted.

Was this someone deleting spam/scam stuff?

It’s a pleasure connecting with you! If you’ve written a screenplay or developed a strong story concept that you’d like to see move toward production, I’d be happy to take a look. I’m open to all genres and budget levels, what matters most is a great story with real potential. You’re welcome to send your material. I personally handle each evaluation, offering professional feedback on story structure, character development, and production potential. With years of experience across film and television, my goal is to identify projects that can move confidently toward development and attract the right partners. Looking forward to hearing about your work and exploring how we might collaborate. Warm regards Producer / Development Partner Email: vincentnewm.n@gmail.com"

Suzanne Bronson

Hey Craig, this is Suzanne from the Stage 32 team. I just wanted to let you know I moved your post from Acting to Anything Goes, as it fits much better there. Let me know if you have any questions, and all the best to you!

Daniel Turkewitz

I just got the same email through Stage32. Any word on this?

Suzanne Bronson

You need to report it to support@stage32.com with a link to the account.

Suzanne Bronson

If it shows deleted, the account was deleted. The message will still show but you won't be able to respond.

Daniel Turkewitz

Vincent Newman’s account seems to still be active.

Suzanne Bronson

Like I said, please send an email with the link to support@stage32.com. thanks

Lyle Deixler

I got a similar message today, a few hours ago. And now I see it looks like his account has been deleted.

Craig Urquhart

Weird, he sends a message, and then it's deleted. Is it the same email? Also a very sus email address.

Lyle Deixler

Agreed re: the email address. And I googled Vincent Newman and found a producer named Vincent G. Newman, if it is a scam the scammer could have taken that name. And here's the email I got today, similar to yours but a little shorter:

Screenwriter It’s great to connect. If you have a completed screenplay or a strong, well-developed concept ready to move forward, I’m open to reviewing it for potential development. Genre and budget aren’t the priority, a compelling story with real potential is what matters most. You can send your material directly to vincentnewm.n@gmail.com. I’ll review it and follow up regarding next steps. Best, Vincent Newman

Craig Urquhart

Now sure what the hell any scammer is looking for with this. Maybe charging for some service (but this is a big tipoff), maybe stealing a story (?!?? what value does that have?) or some such thing.

Super weird.

David Zuckerman

I received the exact same message. Whoever this is, they will ask for a "Facilitation Fee" of $4000. I'm doing research into him, and even contacted the PGA for absolute clarification. But this is screaming scammer.

Barbara Giannini

I just received the same message today.

David Zuckerman

He ended up sending me his "NDA." I read through it, and it specifically says in the NDA that I was to pay him. What NDA talks about payment? None of them. It's a sneaky way to get you to sign a contract... Stay away, this is definitely a scam!

Craig Urquhart

Nice work, getting the NDA.. I'd love to see it.

Fredric Schwartz

One of my team members got the same message. We reached out and also received the NDA. The reply came from a free gmail with a generic signature. No link to a website, LinkedIn or IMDB profile. Googled the address on the NDA and it's a factory--> 2040 Imperial St, Los Angeles, CA 90021

Kevin Hager

Scammers have made it so hard to trust others.

Lyle Deixler

Thank you everyone who researched this scammer!

Monica L Matulich

Hi everyone, I received the same message at Stage 32 from Vincent Newman. After I received his email from: vincentnewm.n@gmail.com asking for the $4K, I went back to Stage 32 exchange after he sent me the email, and saw that he deleted his account. I also received a copy of the NDA and it was definately not written by an attorney. But this Vincent Newman told me his credits are under Vincent G. Newman - a real producer - so he's impersonating the real person. I will send a message to support@stage32.com, but I think this needs to be reported to the police as he's stealing someone's identity. Does anyone know if Stage 32 would handle this reporting to police? Or should we individually report it? Or report to FBI? Not sure. Yes, now scammers are making it hard to trust others in this business.

Monica L Matulich

P.S. - Or perhaps Stage 32 should let the real Vincent G. Newman's attorneys about what's going on?

Monica L Matulich

David Zuckerman - did you get a response from the PGA?

Andrew Paternoster

Wow this sucks, I got a message from the same guy and just sent him an email with my scripts. I looked him up before but I didn't come across this thread.

Dragan Veselinovic

Same here

Hi Craig Urquhart! I wanted to jump in here with an update for you and everyone else following this discussion.

Vincent Newman did not delete the account himself. The Stage 32 Team identified the account as suspicious and promptly removed it from the platform. When the same individual attempted to create a new account and continue contacting our members, we identified that account as well and removed it.

We take the safety of our community very seriously and act quickly whenever accounts of concern are reported or identified by our team.

As a reminder to everyone, if you ever have an interaction that feels unusual or raises red flags, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at Support@Stage32.com and/or Community@Stage32.com. Send us screenshots of the conversation along with a link to the member’s profile, and we’ll investigate it right away. We’d much rather look into a legitimate interaction than have even one member put at risk.

Daniel Turkewitz

Thank you for the update Ashley. Has Stage32 contacted the real Vincent Newman to let him know his name is being used in a scam? Perhaps he’ll want to contact law enforcement if what’s going on constitutes fraud.

Craig Urquhart

Yeah, this is pretty serious. Talk about targeting the hopeful and aspirant. It's totally parasitic.

Craig Urquhart

On the other hand, here's a great character for all of us to write into screenplays.

Cyrus Emerson

This has happened to me twice, technically three times. The latest was Vincent Newman, I was about to email a script to him today so if people want to read your script it's probably a scam, jK. The other person was Aven Sinclair who went by Avril Sinclair I think to start. It's the same person, with an explanation who wants book manuscripts to turn into screenplays for a fee.

Saida Kalykova

Hallo everyone! I was offered guaranteed promotion of my music for a movie for $20,000. Is that a scam too?

Cyrus Emerson

Someone who commented on this post asked to be added to my network and it turned into a scam.

Daniel Turkewitz

He's back! A month after my first email, I got another invite today from "Vincent Newman" to join my Stage 32 network.

Monica L Matulich

Today, I also got another invite on Stage 32 from Vincent Newman - but note that in the description of his profile, he calls himself Vincent G. Newman (who is a real producer with great credits), so he's impersonating that producer.

Craig Urquhart

Which all means that despite being tagged by the moderators and teams, this guy is still around and still doing the same thing over and over.

Stage 32 seems to have no way of stopping him.

Scott Martin

Good ol' Vince just hit me up with the initial email. Many thanks for starting this thread. I will forward the email to the gang at Stage32. He uses the email v.ncentnewman@gmail.com

Daniel Turkewitz

On July 21 I wrote to Behr Abramson Levy Johnson, Vincent G. Newman’s legal reps, telling them what’s going on. I haven’t heard back from them.

Randall Allen Dunn

Thanks for reporting and checking this, everyone. I got the same email offer. So disappointing.

David Zuckerman

Be on the lookout; it appears as though this scammer has now taken the profile of "Lloyd Segan." He sent me a near-identical message to "Vince's" initial message. Stay vigilant, my friends.

Philippa Rae

Hi, it looks like the Vincent Newman fake it up and running again. I had an invite two months ago, and now the same one Vincent Newman again has started up!!! To be honest I didn't believe someone like that would contact me, I thought it odd. However it never crossed my mind to be a fake because it was on Studio 32. Fortunately a friend warned me, and it fell into place when he di

I just clicked on Vincent Newman's wall, and Amanda Toney of Stage 32 actually sent him a welcome message two days ago - check it out, in case I miss saw it!!!

I just got the same scam letter from Vincent Newman today 9/6/26. I googled the email before sending him anything, because I fell for a similar scam here on Stage32. I never sent any money, but they tried to get some. Sofar this is the only platform this has happened to me...

Ginny Medeiros

His email to me.

Craig Urquhart

It's the same guy, similar email, he just moves the period around. Stage 32 throws him out, and he comes back again.

Send a message to the admins and get them to throw him out again.

He's very persistent.

Suzanne Bronson

@phillippa you realize that is automatic to everyone who joins, not an endorsement. One comes from RB as well. You got them.

Philippa Rae

Thanks Suzanne, I didn't realise it was automatic - sorry about that.

Annabel Leigh

Why are you sorry? You didn't know. They're not very transparent here.
