I am curious if anyone else has seen this movie. I just watched it last night, and it has really stuck with me so much. If anyone has seen it, I would love to discuss and hear your thoughts. I am not a fan of South Korean horror per se, as (at least from my limited experience) it seems so culturally stylized that I don't connect, but the opening was so magnificent I couldn't turn it off. @mauricevaughn, I would love to know your thoughts on this especially.

I watched Incantation, Darrell Pennington. It's one of the creepiest, scariest movies I've seen. You're right about the opening. I really cared about the protagonist and her daughter. That made the scenes scarier and more suspenseful.

So creepy. I have not really watched other S.K. horror (aside from Parasite) but if this is what I have to look forward to I may have to explore more.
What were your thoughts on the frequent tonal shifts? I was imagining trying to portray that in a script and the messages and notes that would flow in 'too much tonal whiplash', 'inconsistent messaging' etc....hahaha

I think they handled the tonal shifts really well, Darrell Pennington! The dramatic moments, family moments, and humorous moments got me comfortable, making me let my guard down for the scary and creepy moments. And the dramatic, family, and humorous moments were where I invested in the characters. It's definitely a balance when doing tonal shifts.

Maurice Vaughan for sure. I'm bruised from that type of feedback that doesn't feel warranted haha.
