We're Building a Creative Army (And We Want You In It)

Week 1: Raise the Call

Stage 32 exists because RB invited 100 people and asked each of them to invite five more. Fifteen years later, that's 1.5 million creatives across 190 countries.

This September, we're doing it again on purpose. Five weeks, five missions, a prize every single week for EVERY member that participates, and a Grand Prize drawing at the end for members who complete three or more!

WEEK 1: RAISE THE CALL
Monday, August 31 through Sunday, September 6

Your mission: share Stage 32 with one of your favorite creative communities. A social post, your group chat, a Discord, your newsletter, your acting class, the bulletin board at your community theater. Wherever your creative people gather, that's where the call goes. You can send invites at https://www.stage32.com/invite

This week's prize: a FREE Stage 32 Webinar of your choice.

To claim it, comment on the Week 1 Creative Army post and tell us where you raised the call. Ashley will send your code directly. One prize per member per week.

Every creative you bring in makes this community stronger for all of us. Let's build this thing.

In Honor of the Classic Blooper Reel: What's Your Favorite Blooper Reel of Old?

Hi Post-Production Lounge Fam!

Yes! Leonardo DiCaprio actually cut his hand during the dinner-table scene, but stayed in character and kept going, and Tarantino ultimately used the take. I love that because it shows how sometimes the unexpected things that happen on set are better than what was planned.

Automated DCP Mastering.

We have all seen how costs can rise dramatically in post. I've always felt there are areas that should become less expensive as we digitized the theatrical workflow. At what stage is the VBR applied? When I make a JPEG 2000 sequence for use in a DCP, I’m not sure that’s an option.

Saul Mahoney

Hi Mike, it is applied at the JPEG encode stage. I know it used to be a choice in Clipster, but it is possible some solutions no longer offer a choice but apply their compression automatically.

Workflow: editing, color grading, VFX

This is something that bigger studios have dedicated teams for, often even with a suite of custom tools in place. Independent productions usually don't have that luxury due to budget constraints; it costs money to dedicate an entire team to managing workflow and building tools.
