Hi Post-Production Lounge Fam!
As a kid who grew up with VHS and DVD blooper reels playing through the film credits, I miss this tradition dearly. It always felt like the editor's time to have an absolute blast, piecing together their favorite moments from the cutting room floor and letting us stay in the theater seat just a little longer.
There was something so special about those blooper reels. They pulled back the curtain in a way nothing else did. Suddenly you were watching the same actors you'd just seen deliver dramatic monologues completely lose it over a fumbled line. You were watching cast and crew genuinely enjoying each other, breaking character, laughing, riffing, and reminding you that this incredible thing you just watched was made by real people having a really good time. As a young viewer and as someone who now understands the craft behind it all, that stuff still hits.
One of my all-time favorite blooper reels is the one from BACK TO THE FUTURE. Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd cracking up together, the crew playing pranks on Michael, the entire cast having so much fun on set - it's such a joy to watch.
