As post-production professionals, we all have something we can learn from each other—whether it’s editing, sound, VFX, animation, color, motion graphics, or the countless tools and workflows we’re constantly trying to keep up with.
But what would make you want to jump into a conversation here?

Cyrus Sales Funny you should ask this today, because at Aerith we just proved our quantum processing rendered in-house! For those who don't know, Aerith Corp (at aerithai.com ) is the first quantum visual effects house and we're creating Avé - the Aerith Visualization Engine. Our VFX lead is the Emmy award winning Michael Stark. We'll be using the Avé render engine on certain scenes in our upcoming film Slayer. Along the development way, we have to address a lot of technical and artistic issues that could be of interest to anyone in post.

Hey, Cyrus Sales. VFX. How it's used and how it affects writers when outlining/writing scripts.

Hello Cyrus Sales, great question. I would love to see before-and-after VFX challenges for scenes, or sound challenges similar to open assignments. That way, people could showcase their work, learn from each other's approaches, and build their portfolios through creative competition.

Shadow Dragu-Mihai That’s honestly fascinating, and I can definitely see how developing something like that would bring up a lot of interesting technical and creative challenges for the post-production community. Congrats on getting the in-house quantum processing render working!
I’m curious, though, to bring it back to the original question: what would make you want to jump into the conversation here? Would it be sharing some of the challenges you’re running into with new technology, exchanging ideas around post workflows, hearing how other artists are solving problems, or just having a place to talk shop with people who are experimenting in similar spaces?

Maurice Vaughan I never really thought about how VFX could influence the writing process, but I really like that idea. It’s interesting to think about how knowing what’s possible or what might be challenging, could shape how a writer approaches a scene, from the initial outline all the way through production. I’ll have to do some digging on that one since I’m not a writer, but I’ll do my best!

Dwayne Williams I love the idea of before-and-after VFX or sound challenges. Just to make sure I’m understanding what you mean, are you suggesting that we create specific challenges for people to work on and then have them share their before-and-after results? I think seeing how different people approach the same creative problem could be a great way to learn from each other. The portfolio-building and friendly competition aspect makes it even more engaging.

Kevin Jackson I do agree that watching a live VFX session would be really cool. Since that may not be an option here, would you be open to connecting on social media and doing something like that there? Being able to watch someone work through a shot and hear the creative and technical decisions behind it would give people a much better understanding of the process than just seeing the finished result.

Thanks, @Cyrus. And if you don't find anything, maybe share some editing tips. I've heard they can help writers write and rewrite scripts.
Maurice Vaughan I can do that, my goal this week is to find some different videos that I can bring back here and share with you all.
