The Stage 32 Videos: Political

This is a TV pilot I co-wrote with Robert Weinstein in mockumentary style about a simple, slightly racist man running a longshot campaign for Mayor of New York and the campaign manager who tries to get him on right track. I play the lead role of Toby Morton and Robert plays the campaign manager, Alan Weinstein. Co-starring Niels Bolle, Rachel Crawford, and Jim Ford. The pilot was directed by Gary Waldinger, shot by Timur Civan, and edited by Ali Mao. Actor coaching by me me. "Man of the People" won several awards, including the Skully for Best Comedy Short at the Royal Flush Festival, and the Silver Ace Award at the Las Vegas International Film Fest. It screened at numerous other festivals, as well. We shot this for about 10K.

The main characters of our film are law enforcement officers who have received an order to disperse a peaceful rally. An order which, in fact, contradicts the constitution of their country. We follow how they cope with this dilemma, what they feel and think, thanks to a combination of different techniques taken from varied genres of music videos and documentaries. The captured horror and beauty appears to be slowed down by a factor of seven expands the viewers perception, showing the whole picture behind rallies, as well as laying bare man’s internal conflict. It took 6 rallies, 3 detentions and 18 months to create this film. During this time, under article 20.2 of the administrative code of offences, over 9 thousand peacefully protesting Russians were detained.

A bipolar failed politician aspires to the Highest Office in the Land. He dreams of bringing America back together again; rid it of foreign influence; and reverse Climate Change. To do this, he must forever and always fight the inner demons he inherited at birth.

The cast for this 60-minute feature includes Delirious Hunter, Ava Mir-Ausziehen, and Joeydotrawr, with Argus Hammer and Cat Belmost appearing in cameo roles. Hunter plays the lead role of a woman attempting to survive in this new, awful world.
