American education is failing our kids. What can we do to change it? I spent five years as an inner-city teacher, and I witnessed first-hand the crisis in our schools. A recent report shows that students today are performing worse than their peers a decade ago.

Unbelievable yes, but teaching kids about race doesn't need to be divisive. Instead, we should encourage them to embrace our differences and recognize that we’re all human. Just like I've taught my Elementary School students time and time again, "We're all the same."

Rich discusses the landmark decision that recognized the First Amendment rights of an elementary school student in California...it's time we teach our kids that ANY life matters.
