AFTER THE LIGHT
When a mysterious catastrophe plunges New York into silence, two ordinary men find themselves fighting to survive in a world that has changed overnight.
Escaping the city by boat moments before disaster strikes, Fernando and Chuck are thrown into a desperate struggle against the elements, eventually washing ashore on a remote island far from everything they once knew. As they search for food, shelter, and answers, survival becomes more than a physical challenge—it becomes a test of friendship, trust, and the human need for connection.
From abandoned city streets and open water to an isolated cabin deep in the wilderness, After the Light follows their journey through uncertainty, resilience, and hope. What begins as a story of survival gradually becomes a deeply personal exploration of what remains when the familiar world disappears.
The film was created using an innovative production process that combined live performance with AI-assisted filmmaking. More than 200 individual eight-second AI-generated clips were carefully conceived, produced, edited, and stitched together to create a cohesive feature-length narrative. Rather than using technology as the subject of the film, the filmmakers employed it as a creative tool to support a deeply human story centered on friendship, perseverance, and survival.
Produced by 8SECOND FILMS and FC PRODUCTIONS, in association with CARPAZINE MAGAZINE, After the Light is the second feature film collaboration between Fernando Carpaneda and Chuck Klein, following their debut feature, Before the Morning Shift.
