About Aaron

From historical epics to chilling horror, Aaron Braxton's award winning screenplays are a genre-bending symphony. Acclaimed for "The Passage of Sun" and the darkly delicious "To Lie Beneath," Braxton isn't afraid to push boundaries. His faith-based dramas "A Long Way From Sunday" and “The Way Home,” prove there's an eclectic edge in the heavens, while "The Longest Goodbye" tugs at the heartstrings. But wait, there's more! This modern-day renaissance man has award-winning pilots like "The Sub" (dramedy gold) and hilarious takes on gentrification and sisterly friendships with "Gentrified" and "Besties." Def Jam, limited series "Press Play" and the gripping agricultural drama, "Seed Money,” are his newest television pilot IPs.

Also, a multi award-winning playwright, his critically acclaimed solo play, “Did You Do Your Homework?” ran a record breaking 9 months at the renowned Beverly Hills Playhouse and garnered a NAACP Image Award and an International Gala Star, from Bacau, Romania. Other notable plays include, "BROKEN,” which won a Max K. Lerner and Inroads Theatre Fellowship as well as “Belafonte Unauthorized,” a solo play about the legendary Harry Belafonte.

The author of several books, Braxton’s coming-of-age novel, Jesse and the Caterpillar Who Got Its Wings, was distinctly nominated for the Emma Children’s Book Award.

Considered a highly gifted artistic polymath, Braxton is also an accomplished actor who has starred, guest starred or co-starred in many films, television and stage plays including the 2023 theatrical releases of the film, 20 Minutes and the upcoming theatrical release of The Laundress. His short film, The Skin I’m In, has won several national and international film festival awards. He currently has a recurring role on the television series, The Wright Turn.

From the mean streets of Roxbury, MA, to the sun-drenched vineyards of Santa Rosa, and finally, the red carpets of Hollywood, armed with an AA from SRJC, a B.A. from SDSU, and an M.A. from USC, he’s an artistic genius who is, “…better than a master of one.”

Unique traits: An extremely versatile writer who, through multiple genres, creates compelling stories, about the African American experience.
