Have you ever composed a song which is deeply personal? Written a song which clearly has connections to your own life? I wrote one titled Death Is Coming For Me. I wrote it because I have an incurable lung disease. I did not write it for sympathy. It is a fun and cheerful tune about laughing in the face of death. first off , I’m so sorry to hear about this. second, I love your bravery, your “whistling in the dark” so to speak. I faced an illness in my 30s where doctors told me to get my affairs in order. even now we can only say remission and not cure. it taught me that life is precious. bravo for your songwriting skill at sharing truth.

The most interesting thing is that we are all dying. And earlier or later we all die. And the death will come to us without exception. But my opinion is that we do not have to call death, but do not have to laugh at her.

By the way, watch the film Meet Joe Black starring Brad Pitt. It clearly shows that death should not be waited for, it will come anyway. We need to do our work. And remain human.

Libby Wright, thank you so much. I figure why not have fun while I can. I have my serious moments like everyone else. However, not about something like death which is going to happen whether I laugh or cry. I am incredibly glad that you are in remission. May you never be ill again.

Aleksandr Rozhnov, I am certainly not waiting for death. However, I sure can laugh about life. I am not calling death to come down and get me. I will keep on enjoying life as long as I can.

Maurice Vaughan 5, I know what you mean. I have added things into my scriptwriting and songs that have a connection to me. I have done it without thinking about it first. Get some real fun looking over what I wrote and realizing it is connected to my life.

I wrote a song called Alive on Arrival about my grandmother passing. a song called rusty about my biggest mistake. it’s good to go super personal at times, but daunting to play them in concert ;)

Douglas Esper, I am fortunate that I do not need to worry about performing in public. I am a simple scriptwriter and songwriter. I have written more than 400 songs. Of course, most of them are not so personal.

Wyman Brent 400 songs wow! that’s incredible. heh, performing live is a thrill, but so much stress ;) I was lucky enough to be on a small tour years ago and experience “the road”, but not sure I can do it anymore.

Douglas Esper, I can understand the stress. I used to help set up concerts at a venue in California. I know the musicians went through a lot that the public rarely thinks about. I have definitely experienced the road since I have visited or lived in 25 nations. However, the public did not pay to see me on the road. :)
