Lindsay Thompson

This is fantastic!!!

James Lagrimas

Lindsay Thompson Totally agree, these ones are great!

If you email us at edu@stage32.com with a quick note about your current project, we’d be happy to recommend webinars or classes that would be a great fit. We’ll also send you a discount code! :)

And please feel free to share here what cinematography topics you’d love to see us focus on next year.

Morgan Aitken

Thanks for that list, James Lagrimas ! There's so much to go through in the education offerings, that having someone distill it down to a specific area of interest is appreciated.

Maurice Vaughan

What about a webinar, class, or lab on video game cinematography, James Lagrimas?

Morgan Aitken

Wow, that's a brill suggestion Maurice Vaughan ! I wholeheartedly second that. I wonder if cinematography for a video game crosses into transmedia?

Lindsay Thompson

Cinematography is so nuanced. I'd love to see collabs with working DPs like Sam McCurdy, Sal Totino, Ernest Dickerson, or others about their processes and approaches to cinematography. I'd also love to learn more about metering/contrast ratios, EL values, etc.

Morgan Aitken

I think it would be cool to know more about using AI to come up with shot-lists and creating a 'feel' for the production. There's only so much I can think of, and figure I'm missing a lot of creative tricks. James Lagrimas , do you know of any edu in your list, or in something you might not have included, that explores the use of AI before the cameras even roll?

Ashley Renee Smith

For planning ahead to 2026, one additional area worth highlighting is lighting and gaffing education. We’ve seen a big increase in members wanting deeper, hands-on guidance in:

• Low-budget and indie lighting strategies

• Practical lighting setups for small spaces

• How to collaborate effectively with gaffers and key grips

• Color theory as it applies to cinematography

• Building and managing a g&e kit for short films and micro-budget features

There’s a ton of demand from filmmakers who want to bridge that gap between “I understand the theory” and “I can walk onto a set and execute with confidence,” so adding more lighting- and gaffing-focused workshops in 2026 could be hugely valuable.

I’d also love to see more education on:

• LUT creation and on-set color pipelines

• Working with virtual production and LED walls

• Documentary lighting and run-and-gun setups

• Lens selection and visual language across genres

Really excited to see what we build for next year, this corner of the craft has endless room for growth, and our community is hungry for it.
