About Brenda

Hands down, I got my creativity from my father. With five kids, it seems money was always tight, but he would find ways to build onto and enrich every place we lived. When I was a teenager, he built my saddle and all my horse gear. When he was diagnosed with cancer, he decided he didn’t have time to die and built a one-and-a-half-ton wooden pickup that took first in every show he entered.
But eventually the cancer spread. He and Momma were on such a tight income that he couldn’t afford the most basic things, but he was far too proud to accept help from his kids. I became a master at lying about which agency supplied the things I bought for him.
I decided I would write a screenplay to honor Daddy and I would showcase his last creation. His truck. The truck that was so unique that it felt magical to sit in it. I had to write something that was bigger than life, full of the magic and creativity that was part of who my father was. But Marvel had already flooded the theaters with their version of heroes, and the Greek epics had also been done. So, I asked myself, “What if the Gods were still procreating today?”
My writing journey began. About a girl who must lie and bend the truth to get her Nana what she needs and a magical truck that can morph into a lion and protect her.
My father recently passed. The cancer was quicker than my ability to get my script done. But the honor is all his. He taught his kids to work hard, keep your head up, and go for your dreams. And I have.

Unique traits: I never take things personal but view criticism as an opportunity to grow.
