LOGLIINE: In a contemporary reimagining of Greek mythology, a struggling dancer must reconcile her ordinary life with her extraordinary destiny as the daughter of Zeus, to save creation from a malevolent goddess.

SYNOPSIS:

Karma is not your coming-of-age hero in a Disney film. She’s a gritty, thirty-something, woman struggling to support her aging nana by working as an exotic dancer, while haunted by the trauma of her past. This includes a fear of fire, obtained when she lost her mom, and the cost of giving up her own child up for adoption. The predatory Thamia, daughter of Hades, threatens the fabric of Karma's life by preying on innocents and plotting to overthrow humanity. When Karma is attacked by Thamia, she unwittingly becomes entangled in an epic battle between good and evil, discovering her own hidden powers, and igniting a journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

With the help of a mystical lion named Kit, Karma navigates latent powers that include manipulating inanimate objects, feeling emotions, and controlling lightning, all traits passed down by her father Zeus. She reconnects with her lost love, the father of the child she gave up, and begins to bond with his daughter. However, the stakes escalate as Thamia collects the Godstones needed to rule creation, forcing Karma into a direct confrontation and taking the life of her beloved Nana.

The climax unfolds at the Statue of Liberty, where Thamia gets the uper hand and mortally wounds Karma’s true love, as he tries to save her. Karma unleashes her ultimate power, absorbing the Godstones into herself, decimating Thamia and solidifying Karma’s place as a true goddess. The aftermath sees Karma grappling with her loss while vowing to protect her community and embrace her role as guardian of creation.
