About Sheikh

Sheikh Rajibul Islam is an internationally acclaimed cinematographer and visual storyteller known for his poetic and immersive visual language across fiction, non-fiction, and commercial media. With a career spanning over two decades and more than 20 countries, his work resonates with emotional depth, aesthetic rigor, and cultural nuance.

Rajibul gained global attention as Director of Photography for Doob – No Bed of Roses (2017), starring Irrfan Khan, which was Bangladesh's official entry for the 91st Academy Awards and earned him a Filmfare nomination—the first ever for a Bangladeshi cinematographer. His signature works also include No Land's Man (2021), Kacher Bhitor Ochin Pakhi(2021), Taan (2022), Mohanagar 2 (2023), and Rajkumar (2024). His visual approach was praised in major publications including Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and Screen Daily for its atmospheric sensibility and expressive composition.

Rajibul's diverse portfolio includes over 800 TV commercials, high-impact documentaries, and award-winning digital content for platforms like Netflix, Chorki, and Hoichoi. He has collaborated with globally recognized production houses such as BBC Media Action, Duckrabbit (UK), and Endemol, and worked on humanitarian-focused campaigns with organizations including the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, Sightsavers, and Save the Children.

A former architecture student at BUET turned visual artist, Rajibul refined his craft at Pathshala South Asian Institute of Photography and Begart Institute of Photography, eventually becoming a leading figure in South Asian cinematography. His early photographic works—exhibited and awarded in London, Rome, and Dhaka—have evolved into a motion picture career that blends naturalistic realism with cinematic boldness.
