About Stephen

Since December 2021 I have been working on an eclectic selection of tv and feature screenplays, encompassing a variety of genres for a high audience target. My first script, Burke and Hare - The West Port Murders, involved 18 months of research and writing which has received multiple awards and honourable mentions both in the USA and UK with favourable reviews including the Cannes World Film Festival.

Greatrex - a period crime drama/true story about a forger set over three continents. Winner of Cannes World Film Festival for Best Crime Script 2025, winner of Austin International Film Festival for Best Drama Feature Script 2025 and Winner at RED Movie Awards for Best Unproduced Script.
Rising Star - a crime/suspense drama set in New York in the eighties
Going Underground - a full length comedy animation feature set in Edinburgh when three 60-year-old men and a dog travel back in time to 1984 and meet their younger selves.
The Deceit and Desire - a period/emotional drama/true story about a man searching for his children.

Burke and Hare - The West Port Murders Drama ⋄ Crime In the dark underbelly of Edinburgh 1828, Burke and Hare enter a pact as they venture on a murder spree, selling the bodies of their victims to anatomist Dr Knox, but unbeknown to them, journalist Archibald Johnson hurtles into a path of danger and intrigue that will lead him to reveal all in a city where the two worlds of rich and poor collide in a melting pot of greed, corruption and power.
The Deceit and Desire Budget: $10M - $30M | Historical ⋄ Drama Arthur Delaney struggles to raise his three young children after the death of his wife in 1882 and is persuaded to place them in a refuge, only to discover they have been transported to Canada as child labour. Greatrex Budget: $30M+ | Crime Liar, thief, and adulterer Greatrex devises a scheme to forge bank notes in 1866 with the help of the Grimshaw brothers, but detective McCall is on their trail in an adventure of love and greed that spans three continents before embroiling the president of the United States.
Rising Star Budget: $10M - $30M | Crime The death of a girl triggers a vigilante to seek revenge as detectives Logan Ford and Malik Edwards follow the grizzly trail in eighties New York.
Inside Reach Budget: $5M - $10M | Drama When Jack Corral falls in love with Amy Lee, life becomes more complicated as his flatmates turn against him, his deepest secret threatens to be revealed and a spy conspiracy forces him to make choices that will determine his survival and sanity as social unrest displaces his world of reality.
