A serial killer infiltrates a protest group with plans to bomb the city as two New York detectives race to catch him before it is too late.

SYNOPSIS:

Set in New York City during the 80s, time-served detective Logan Ford is tasked to work with university-qualified rookie Malik Edwards, who is seen as a protégé with a bright future. Diametrically opposed characters, they are soon assigned to investigate the death of pregnant hooker Lucia Blinkley whose body is discovered in an industrial wasteland realising her body has been moved from the original crime scene.

With the coroner establishing the cause of death was drug-related and her identity established, the detectives embark on the trail, but no sooner have they started when the murdered body of corrupt police officer Bernie Hillcroft indicates a connection with the Chelmsford Hotel, owned by mobster Giacomo Pulcinella.

The detectives believe a serial killer has resurfaced and are in hot pursuit when a local councillor becomes the next victim. By now there is a clear link between the three deaths, involving an illegal land grab that includes politician Robert Sanderson and Pulcinella.

A SWAT team raid the gangster's base but he is already in the process of meeting the panic-stricken Sanderson, but unbeknown to all, the killer has bugged the mobster, extracted evidence from his office and is aware of the clandestine meeting.

The following day, with the murdered body of Pulcinella found, the detectives are closing in on the murderer. Logan confronts his neighbour, who he believes may be the killer while Malik discovers the father of the unborn is Lucia's social worker Richard Evans and enters his apartment to find evidence he is the killer.

During the argument with his neighbour, Logan (unaware of Malik's discovery) realises Sanderson was at the hotel with Lucia when she died and heads to the politician's home, where he and his wife are entrapped by the killer who prepares to enact his final murder.

Before the killer can enact the murder, Logan appears and is involved in a tense, climatic battle of life-and-death that leaves him wounded and disarmed with Evans approaching the writhing detective. As the killer takes aim, Malik has arrived on the scene to shoot the killer.
