Honored to share that my short screenplay NINE LIVES has been awarded Best Short Script at the Independent Shorts Awards Annual Awards.
This project has had an incredible festival journey so far — from its Honorable Mention in the monthly ISA cycle to now receiving top recognition at the annual awards. The jury’s feedback has been deeply meaningful, highlighting the script’s long‑take structure, visual storytelling, emotional core, and the blend of grounded action with humanistic themes.
Nine Lives is built around nine extended action sequences following a retired veteran descending a sealed high‑rise during a lockdown to rescue his confiscated cat — a personal mission that evolves into a broader story about courage, dignity, and resistance. Seeing the screenplay resonate with readers and programmers across multiple festivals has been energizing.
Thank you to the Independent Shorts Awards team for the award and for the thoughtful, in‑depth analysis of the script. I’m continuing development as I move toward production, and I’m excited to share more soon.
If you’re a producer, animator, or visual artist interested in grounded action, atmospheric worldbuilding, and character‑driven storytelling, I’d be glad to connect.
