Hi again dear community,
Sandra and I got to interview the amazing Alexia Melocchi, for the Seeing Rachel YouTube Channel.
Alexia’s energy was infectious and we loved spending time with her. The main focus was women in film and she shared with us her journey through the film industry. We also discussed finding your audience, a distribution company that is aligned with the productions aims and social impact entertainment.
The last piece of advice she gave to us, was “protect your peace” and that seemed such a fitting word for these days; politically, socially and of course creatively.
There’s lots more besides, so please check it out and SUBSCRIBE to the channel.

Fantastic interview! A must-see! Thanks for posting it, Geoff Hall. Alexia Melocchi is really knowledgeable about the industry. She talks about filmmakers needing to make their socially conscious projects stand out because there are so many being made. And that goes for any project. Whenever I start developing a script idea or try to find a movie to watch, I look for the hook that makes it stand out.

Maurice Vaughan thank you, Maurice. Yeah, I wasn’t worried when Alexia talked about the proliferation of socially conscious films. I’ve seen a number of them and a lot of them are what I’d call ‘educational’ films, which is not where Seeing Rachel lands at all. So, of course I’m going to say that, but the treatment of the subject-matter is quite a departure from that. In terms of style, think of Silence of the Lambs and not The Whistleblower or Lilya 4 Ever.

You're welcome, Geoff Hall. Even if a lot of the socially conscious films that are out/coming out weren't "educational" films, Seeing Rachel has a hook that'll make it stand out from them.

Maurice Vaughan and I should say that I don’t see them as competition, as we are not making the same film.

We are really proud of this interview, aren’t we Geoff Hall? Alexia Melochi is first female filmmaker who accepted our challenge and it took us months to set up agendas, so we are really proud of it. Second, she is “the Masterclass” of filmmaking and her insights about Women in Film are precious.
Seeing Rachel it’s a female driven screenplay and to have Alexia was the cherry on top, for now. There is still more to come!
Thank you also Stage 32 for all of this connections and linked us!
