Tom Pickard’s screenwriting debut, the comedy drama “Spa”, was nominated best screenplay at the Los Angeles Asian Film Festival and won for best screenplay and most likely to be produced at the Hollywood Dreams Festival. His latest script, the sports comedy “Leatherballs”, was nominated finalist at the Las Vegas Screenwriting and Film Festival.
Before focusing on writing full time, Tom had a successful career as a project manager in the commercial solar industry. Tom’s proven track record working with teams to deliver clean energy systems for clients such as Walmart, Home Depot and Amazon made him a sought-after asset. He participated in projects resulting in over $250 mm in debt, cash and tax equity financing.
Prior to renewables, Tom founded California based PlaySolutions, which designed and constructed commercial playgrounds for schools, parks and day cares. In 2008 The company was recognized by Inc. Magazine as a top 500/5000 fast growing private company.
He was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Stamford, CT. Tom earned a BA in History from Brown University. He played rugby at Brown and went on to play for club teams in Toronto and California. He was the head coach at UCLA and founded the Alumni support group that would help rebuild the team to a national competitive level.
Today, Tom lives in Las Vegas, NV with his wife and three dogs.
