Derrick Macharia

I’m Derrick Macharia Wangui, a passionate and visionary young Kenyan filmmaker and scriptwriter based in Eldoret. My journey into film began with a strong interest in storytelling and visuals — and over time, I’ve taught myself cinematography, scriptwriting, and the art of visual direction.

I’ve worked on short film concepts, collaborated with other creatives, and participated in film discussion groups that have helped sharpen my craft. From script development to camera work, I’m always learning, improving, and pushing myself to tell powerful African stories that inspire and entertain.

Right now, I’m part of a major film project with big collaborations in the works, and we’re aiming to create something unforgettable for the screen. I believe in the power of film to create change, and I’m committed to building a strong name in the industry — both locally and beyond.
