In a future where consciousness is leased like software, a brilliant but lonely programmer falls in love with a mind drifting between bodies and races to save her before the system erases her from existence.
SYNOPSIS:
The first time Eric sees her, she is a shy cafe waitress in her forties. The next time, a young bookseller with trembling hands. Then an elegant older woman playing piano in an empty mall. The face always changes, but the eyes, the voice, the presence remain the same.
She calls herself Ilsa.
In 2119, a future where consciousness can be rented, Ilsa is a fugitive fragment. An illegal mind skipping between borrowed bodies to avoid deletion. She never stays in one form for long. But something about her, maybe some unspoken frequency, latches onto Eric’s soul.
He is a gifted but emotionally closed-off programmer who has built his life avoiding connection. Now, he is consumed with finding her. Mapping her neural signature. Tracking the bodies she borrows. Understanding the code that gives her shape.
But love, in this form, is not stable. As Ilsa begins to lose coherence, glitching between hosts, chased by AI bounty hunters and a system that wants her erased, Eric faces an impossible decision: lock her into one body forever or let her keep slipping away.
Can you love someone who was never truly here?
