A Father who lost everything except his youngest son who knows nothing about survival, is challenged with teaching his son how to navigate the apocalypse and its brutal environments.
SYNOPSIS:
In a bleak near-future ravaged by a mutating virus that causes the dead to violently reanimate before disintegrating into ash, a father and son struggle to survive the collapse of civilization. Jason Schultz, a hardened but emotionally scarred man, leads his teenage son Chase southward through a frozen, irradiated wasteland in search of safety and purpose. Haunted by the loss of their family and the horrors they’ve endured, the two navigate a world filled with mutated creatures, ruthless survivors, and the psychological toll of survival.
As they scavenge for supplies and shelter, Chase is kidnapped by a sadistic cult leader named Edwig, triggering a brutal rescue that forces both father and son to confront their deepest fears and traumas. Through flashbacks, we witness the emotional fractures in their family before the fall—particularly the tragic fate of Jason’s eldest son, Tyler—and how guilt and grief continue to shape their journey.
But survival comes at a cost. As Jason and Chase push forward, they’re unknowingly marked by Edwig’s death, setting off a chain reaction that will ignite a war among the remnants of humanity. In a world where the line between monster and man is increasingly blurred, Ash explores the question: what does it mean to stay human when everything else has turned to dust?
