About Deborah

My name is Joan Figueroa. A recent graduate from California State University, Los Angeles Television and Film program. I live in California and grew up with a passion for Film and Television. I exposed myself to many different types of technology, genres and story telling at a very young age, which made me fall in love with the craft. At first I loved the thought of being able to create something beautiful with a camera, and I thought it was the only way, but as I continued my education I learned that my passion within the art wasn't just with a camera. I thought to myself what makes a good story besides the cinematography and directing, what is the core of a good film or show? I realized it was the written story, the screenplay. I took an intro to screenwriting course and I never came back from it the same. I fell in love with the creative process of making new characters, creating a setting, and creating a visually beautiful story. Creating things that I was interested in and passionate about was what sold me.
