About Jonathan

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Graduated from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London UK. Winner of the Prime Minister Award, Israel 2000.

“Lipstikka” (Odem, Israel/UK 2011), feature film as producer-writer-director was presented in Competition at the Berlin International Film Festival 2011, and numerous international festivals worldwide. The film was produced by my production company Obelis Productions based in London and Tel-Aviv.

"Urban Feel" (Kesher Ir, Israel 1999), his feature film as producer-writer-director-actor, was presented in Competition the Berlin International Film Festival 1999 and won numerous national and International awards.

"Drifting" (Nagua, Israel 1983), first feature film as co-producer and lead actor, was presented at the Berlin International Film Festival 1984, won various Israeli National Awards.

As writer-director also two independent shorts (“Zerach Lipshitz’s Last Little Vacation” and “At Home”) and three stage plays (“Cockroach”, “Lea Goes Out on the Streets”, “A leak Under the Kitchen Sink”). Wrote a series of short stories for the Israeli publication "Rosh Ehad", and was a regular staff writer on the Israeli-Palestinian production of "Sesame Street".

Among his Theatre, Film & TV acting credits are 'Karl Rossman' in the theatrical adaptation of Kafka's "Amerika", repertory member of the Habima National Theatre in Tel-Aviv, 'Bobby' in the popular Israeli film series "Lemon Popsicle" (Eis Am Stiel), Robbie in Amos Guttman’s “Drifting” (Nagua, also as co-producer), 'Poldek Pfefferberg' in Steven Spielberg’s "Schindler’s List", 'Emanuel' in his own film "Urban Feel", ‘Asaf Refaeli’ in the Israeli Television drama series "Hamakom" and more.

Sagall was a staff teacher and guest lecturer at the Guildhall school of Music & Drama in London, Ma'ale Film College in Jerualem, Be'er Sheva Theatre School, Tel-Hai Film College, Kamera Obscura Film School, Minshar Film College and Bet Zvi Theatre School, latter ones in Tel-Aviv. Sagall also conducted countless script/camera workshops for writers/directors/actors all over Israel.
