About Andrea

I’m a Brazilian-Australian screenwriter drawn to character-driven dramas that explore identity, belonging, and the emotional messiness of life through the lens of a migrant. I’m deeply inspired by Pedro Almodóvar — his boldness, emotional truth, and the way he embraces both the beautiful and the absurd. That spirit definitely finds its way into my work.
My animation, Manu the Spider, was a semi-finalist at the Screencraft Animation Screenplay Competition in 2021, which encouraged me to produce the first episode, Vic the Vacuum Cleaner, available on YouTube. My debut feature, First of July, is currently making the rounds in competitions and looking for the right character-driven producer to champion it.
Off-screen, I’m searching for a publisher for my novel Sonata for You, while plotting my next one: My Body Belongs to Me.
Even though I swore I wouldn’t produce again, I’m now considering producing one of my short films, 108, based on a true story. After a powerful table read with fellow screenwriters, I felt encouraged to bring it to life, so now I’m looking for a line producer to help budget it before I start knocking on sponsors’ doors.
