I, Konstantin Kemnitz, am an award winning composer for movie scores. As a young child I fell in love with the genre of film. Due to my extracurricular musical training, I became especially interested in film music. For this reason, I decided to study this very subject.
I started my studies in Bonn, Germany at musicube academy and continued in Arnhem, Netherlands at the ArtEZ University of the Arts, from which I received my Bachelor's degree. But I wanted to evolve even further as an artist and get more opportunities to work with established and well-regarded musicians. Therefore, I went to London, England to attain my Master’s degree at the Royal College of Music.
I learned to play the piano at an early age. To this day, I am grateful for this training, as the piano is still the instrument I use to start most of my compositions. In fact, I have started giving piano lessons to young students, because I want to support the next generation in learning this great passion of mine.
I have worked internationally with a number of orchestras including the Landesjugendorchester Bremen, the Jugendsinfonieorchester Leipzig, the Ereprijs Orkest, and other smaller ensembles. In some of those instances I even conducted the orchestra personally. One example of this was in the Air-Edel Studio in London. One of my more recent compositions was recorded by the RCM Symphony Orchestra led by Matt Dunkley. I also gained invaluable experience when working as a copyist in the Galaxy studios in Belgium.
During my studies in London, I frequently had the opportunity to partake in study projects, which created a strong bond, relationship, and connection with different film schools, such as London Film School, or Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Additionally, I had the honor and privilege to take graduate level courses with renowned Hollywood score writers such as Harry Gregson-Williams, George Fenton, and Matthias Weber.
My greatest success to this day is my first cinematic and television film „Julie must die,“ which will be published internationally. I received this outstanding opportunity because of my previous work with director Marco Gadge on a number of short film projects.
Lastly, I am proud to have placed second in the 1st German Gamemusic Award 2012 in Bremen. The work on this competition has shown me that I am interested in creating music for all types of visual art. I see it as my calling to perfect visual arts through acoustic input. In this sense, I consider it a great honor and privilege to do this for international pieces and with international artists.
