About Stephen
Stephen Chrabaszcz moved to L.A. from Providence to write after declining an appointment at West Point Academy. That went over swimmingly with Stephen’s Vietnam veteran father. He got over it, eventually, after Stephen became Bruno Mars’ personal trainer; put himself through law school via nights at Southwestern; passed five bar exams; and practiced law as a trial attorney.
So, what's a 6’4” cis, white, celebrity trainer turned litigator write? Dope-ass action-comedies, of course—features centered around characters based on Stephen’s African-American cousins (yes, via consanguinity); gay sister; Down syndrome brother; and bipolar father.
In 2018, Stephen’s feature LIABLE, about a young African-American attorney practicing Mesothelioma law in blue-collar West Virginia, advanced to the Second Round at Austin, was named a Quarterfinalist at PAGE, placed in the top 15% in the Nicholl, and received an “8” on the Blacklist. More recently, Stephen’s holiday action-comedy feature DASHING THROUGH THE SNOW, about a Marshal named Jo trying to extract a pregnant fugitive named Mary from her home on Christmas Eve while being hunted by a trio of hitmen, was named a Semi-Finalist in ISA's 2021 Comedy Genre-Busting Screenplay Competition.
Stephen presently resides in Studio City with his wife Lacey, who’s an attorney at Lionsgate, and their children, Harper (7); Sutton (5); and Maverick (1), where he works as a studio reader. Stephen would love for his children to get their law degrees and be as awesome as him—he’s already bracing himself for disappointment.
