Rebecca Davey is a writer, producer and co-founder of She Said Films, which encouraged women behind and in front of the camera for over a decade. For She Said Films, she wrote and directed her first short film which was selected to be part of Telefilm’s Not Short on Talent at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as writing, producing and starring in two seasons of the award-winning digital series "Running With Violet,” which is currently available on the OUTtv network and Amazon Prime. “Running With Violet” has garnered over thirty awards and nominations including two Canadian Screen Awards and a nomination for best writing.
Currently Rebecca has several television projects in development supported by the Canada Media Fund and the Bell Slate Fund with her newly founded Ceres Productions Inc, a multi-media company which is focusing on diverse projects big and small that fit an ever expanding creative universe. One of Ceres key mandates is partnership development. Partnerships with BIPOC and other marginalized creatives forms holds a gravitational pull on the company’s consistent direction and redirection.
Rebecca is also the co-founder of She Said Notes, a “journal for the art-interested, the feminist-minded, curated to connect the unexpected,” which has published four volumes thus far. She has a Masters of Creative Writing from the University of British Colombia and is working on her first middle grade novel.
