  • Reg Park: The Legend

    Reg Park: The Legend (2009)
Video by Richard H Nosworthy (Documentary) Producer/Director/Writer Reg Park’s appearance on the world stage of bodybuilding in the late 1940’s was the start of a revolution in the sport. When he finally and gracefully bowed out in the early 1970’s the world of bodybuilding was a remarkably transformed place. Along the way Reg revolutionized the way people trained and prepared for competition and created posing routines – incorporating music into his routines at the suggestion of his wife, Mareon, who had been a professional ballet dancer. “REG PARK: The Legend” is a documentary that grew out of filmed sessions with Reg shortly before he passed away in November 2007 as a result of cancer. His story travels from the cold of northern England to the United States where he teamed up with the Weider organization and then back to England where he won the first of his three Mr. Universe titles in 1951. On an exhibition tour to South Africa that same year he met his wife-to-be, Mareon. In 1958 he won his second Mr. Universe title and moved his young family to South Africa to escape the harsh British climate. He entered again in 1965 – winning his third title at his third attempt at the age of 37. Despite being away from the epicentre of the bodybuilding world Reg had enormous respect and influence. Generations of bodybuilders followed his training methods and dreamt of emulating his success. Arnold Schwarzenegger was a young man in Austria who fell under the spell of Reg’s accomplishments after reading about him in a magazine. “My life was never the same”, said Arnold. “He was so powerful and rugged-looking that I decided then and there that I wanted to be a bodybuilder, another Reg Park. I could not have picked a better hero to inspire me: Reg went from bodybuilding into the movies.” Reg was a committed family man and his home was where he was happiest. He doted on his wife Mareon – to whom he was married for 55 years. Nothing made Reg happier than coming home after a long day at the gym to Mareon’s cooking and time spent with his son, Jon Jon, and daughter, Jeunesse. The Park family life so impressed Arnold Schwarzenegger when he visited with them that he used them as the role model for his own family life. Beside Reg himself, many people were interviewed in the making of “REG PARK: The Legend”: from his family and friends to colleagues and famous names from the world of bodybuilding, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Joe Weider, Jim Lorimer, Lou Ferrigno, Tom Platz, Frank Zane and many others.

  • A Case of Murder

    A Case of Murder (2004)
Film (Drama) Producer Two brothers, Jack (STEVE HOFMEYR) and Eric (GIDEON EMERY), have been brought up in the way of the Lord. When Jack and his beautiful wife Colleen (CANDICE HILLEBRAND) are evicted from their home, Colleen asks Eric to persuade his flatmate Uncle Angel (ANTHONY FRIDJHON) to allow the couple to stay with them for a few days. Eric is unable to resist her, but after they move into the living room they make themselves unwelcome. Having lost all the money they have borrowed from Uncle Angel to go to the casino, the three are caught stealing from his bank account and the old man kicks them all out. When Jack discovers that the Uncle Angel’s living on a Dutch pension (that Eric draws on his behalf), he hatches a plan to kill the old Dutchman in order to collect the money for themselves. A reluctant Eric, is convinced to go along with the plan by his sister-in-law, who is not shy to use her feminine wiles to get what she wants. Colleen and Jack call the seventy year old Uncle Angel into the living room. Jack suddenly turns around and smashes a large glass bottled boat over his head. Jack comes up with a plan to get rid of the body. They will feed his body to the crocs at an upcountry holiday resort. The only way to transport the copse there though, is to cut him up into pieces and squeeze him into three suitcases. All is on track until the one suitcase begins to leak blood - in a panic - they throw it out the window. A train driver spots the torso that has been flung out of the suitcase, and calls in the police. Utilising clever detective work, an overweight, ingenious police officer, Captain Bushy (BEN KRUGER) captures the three. However, with no witnesses, Jack pleads self defence, and the only way to make murder charges stick is if they can persuade one of the three to turn State Witness. The prosecutor talks Colleen into spilling the beans on her husband and his brother. They are both convicted of murder and she gets off free. Jack is mad with his wife for her betrayal. Whilst in jail, Jack pretends to be ill and is taken to the infirmary where he holds up a doctor and escapes. When Bushy hears he knows that Jack is heading straight for his wife. They both race towards her, but Jack gets there first.
