Alexandra Ramniceanu: Founder, Producer, Screenwriter

BBorn in 1976, Alexandra began her career in 2002 as a script reader for film distributors. She then joined filmmaker Steve Suissa, working on two feature films (Comme Si De Rien n'Était by Pierre-Olivier Mornas and Le Grand Rôle by Steve Suissa) and the short film Méprise by Éric Le Roux, for which she served as director of production.

In 2004, she became one of the first freelance executive producers in France, developing projects both domestically and internationally. A year later, she founded her own company, Les Films d’en Face, with a clear vision: to place screenplay development at the heart of the production process. In 2006, she launched the development of Joséphine and the Shadows, an original fantasy feature inspired by the world of Roland Topor and Reinhardt Wagner, with actor Jean-Frédéric Samie joining the project early on.

Trained in screenwriting and rewriting at NYU, Alexandra is fluent in both French and English. She writes in both languages and collaborates with producers in France and the U.S., offering story development and script consulting services.

In 2012, she co-wrote Dhalinyaro, the first feature film from Djibouti, directed by Lula Ali Ismaïl and co-produced by Les Films d’en Face and Samawada. The film screened at numerous international festivals (Montreal, New York, Washington, Yaoundé, Cologne) and won multiple awards, including Best Film (Regards sur la Relève – Vues d’Afrique, 2019) and Best East African Actress (Sotigui Awards, 2020).

Most recently, she produced Ceci n’est pas une guerre (This Is Not a War), a powerful documentary by Magali Roucaut and Eric John Bretmel, which will have its theatrical release in April 2025.

In parallel with her creative work, Alexandra has been leading screenwriting workshops since 2019, both in film schools and independently. Her workshops focus on structure, rewriting, and finding one’s unique voice as a storyteller. She works with emerging and established writers alike, helping them bring emotionally resonant, production-ready scripts to life.

She continues to develop original projects as both a writer and producer, with a particular interest in character-driven stories, emotional depth, and narratives that challenge conventions — whether in the realm of fiction or documentary.
