I Am the People the Mob (2020)
Film (short) by Alan Mintz Starring - Activist A dramatization of Carl Sandburg's poem, I am the People, the Mob. Placed in a contemporary context, the film depicts a Black Lives Matter protester grappling with the decision to continue to join in the struggle against brutality after he was badly beaten by the police. The poem pays tribute to the working class, the common people rearing up to regain control from the corrupt ruling class and leaders. The modern protesters and contemporary workers in general suffer from the oppression of the ruling class just as Sandburg wrote many years ago, but, as shown in the film and told in the poem, the common masses have the power to revolt, to overthrow the ruling class and the abusive leaders and take power into their own hands. Carl Sandburg was an advocate of Civil Rights, active in Socialist politics and championed the labor struggle.
