LA’CHRIS ROBINSON JORDAN is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker, author and playwright, who crafts compelling narratives that delve into the lives of beautifully flawed women. Specializing in gritty dramas, period pieces and action-thrillers, La'Chris has several TV series adaptations in development including Harper Jameson’s WWII spy thriller about Josephine Baker, I WASN’T REALLY NAKED, sci-fi thriller THE SOFTWALKERS, the Great Depression period thriller PINEY RIDGE, and the action-drama THE REBELS OF ROBESON COUNTY. A graduate of the University of Washington with a B.A. in Communications and American Ethnic Studies, La'Chris is co-authoring a novel with her father, Paul Jordan, launching TAYLOR: ROLLING FORK, a character-driven crime drama series that follows fictional detective Marcus Taylor as he navigates the dark underbelly of small-town life in Rolling Fork, Alabama.
Acknowledged as one of the "100 Most Fascinating People in Los Angeles," La’Chris stands out as a 2023 cohort of the Sony Pictures Television-backed Creative Corridor, a 2021 BIPOC Writers Fellow, and an esteemed alumnus of Stowe Story Labs. Her talent has garnered recognition from prestigious competitions and film festivals such as the Academy Nicholl, Sundance Episodic Lab, MACRO Episodic Lab, The Writers Lab NYC, Austin Film Festival, Cinequest, Pan African Film Festival and many more. In 2020, La’Chris wrote, directed, and produced her debut short film, JANUARY 14TH, a gripping drama that was the Official Selection of 75 film festivals worldwide and recipient of over 60+ award wins and honors, including being featured on Apple TV+.
Prior to her work in film and television, La’Chris’ was hailed as one of the "50 Playwrights to Watch" by the Dramatists Guild. Her work earned her a semifinalist position for the Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program at Juilliard.
Beyond her artistic pursuits, La’Chris is a seasoned journalist, historian, and genealogist. As a third great-granddaughter of Underground Railroad conductor and suffragist Charity Davis Ceasar Broady, La’Chris serves as an archivist for the National Archives in Washington, D.C., and contributes her historical expertise as a researcher for the Charity’s Children Project, a heritage-based organization. In addition to her work in history and genealogy, La’Chris is the Executive Producer, Founder and co-host of The American Aboriginals.
