Independent filmmaker Robert Springfield is a native of Tennessee and has worked in the Greater Memphis area as a filmmaker, writer, production assistant, and teacher for more than ten years. Robert’s work is always looking into dark corners, finding the light, addressing the themes of social awareness, transformation, and redemption. Missing Buffy is his third short film project as director/writer/producer.
His film Good Morning Teacher (2009, 14 min)—focuses on the horrors of child abuse as seen through the eyes of a classroom teacher. Robert originally penned the script to be performed as a stage play but ended up shooting it as a short film with limited resources, but excellent performances. This work was also photographed and edited by Robert.
After taking a brief hiatus from the dramatic arts in 2011, Robert pursued documentary-style film making as well as other miscellaneous projects. During this time, he also formed his own production company with his producer wife, Cybill. Thus, Robert never gave up his passion for drama but continued to write every day. Still, he grew intensely hungry for storytelling and could not stay away for too long. Missing Buffy marks his return to narrative short films as a writer, director, editor and producer. It is a body of work that deals with several themes regarding some of the social issues that are definitely prevalent but often overlooked. Robert looks forward to sharing this most recent project and believes it will receive favorable recognition.
