Marielle Brinda is an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker. Her short film, The Last Course, premiered at the Valley Film Festival and was nominated for the Best Director award at the Sick Chick Flicks Film Festival, 2016. An editor by trade, Marielle's most recent feature documentary editing project, Fireboys, is being distributed by 1091 Pictures and will premiere at the Dances With Films Festival 2021. She is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago where she majored in film with a focus on screenwriting and editing. As an alumni, three of her feature-length scripts have won or placed second in the Written Image Award Competition. Her feature script, Black River, placed among the top twenty percent of the 2019 Academy Nicholl Fellowships and was a top ten finalist in the Screencraft Drama Screenplay Competition. Her feature script Gloria, La Torera, was a semi-finalist in the Gidden Media Grown Up Movie Screenplay Competition. As a writer, Marielle loves to explore family dynamics, dysfunction and female relationships. She strives to be the brain child of Tina Fe and Wes Craven (creatively speaking), and writes in the dark comedy, dramedy and horror genres. In her free time, she volunteers for WriteGirl LA where she serves as a creative writing mentor for underserved and at risk teenage girls.
