About Dawna

Writer/director Dawna Sirard enjoyed early success, with her first film, Neshomeleh garnering several awards, including First Place at the Northampton Independent Film Festival. Continuing her film career, Dawna completed a series of short films for a Connecticut nonprofit, including Follow the Fifty the Kickoff, a short that gained national attention for the American Heart Association as an inspiring and motivational film about heart disease in women. Another short, Champions of the Human Spirit, captured the attention of a local community through engaging and inspirational stories of self-sacrifice.

Sirard went on to work as a Field Producer for a media company, coordinating and scheduling between 60-80 national shoots per month. She also participated in all in-house production, working as an assistant director. In 2018, Dawna directed the short film, A Little Help Here, a piece she co-wrote with screenwriter, Alyn Warren.

In 2023, Dawna wrote the short screenplay, Yachatz - a Jewish story about a woman caring for her mother who is suffering with Alzheimer's. The script placed or won in 18 film festivals.

Dawna received a Masters Degree in Digital Cinema from National University, a BA in Film from Smith College, and a certificate in film production from the Maine Media Workshops.
