Robert was born in Vancouver B.C. at St Paul's Hospital Feb 3rd, 1964 with yellow jaundice, bronchitis, phenomena, and a sty in his right eye, Robert spent most of this time in an oxygen tent. Robert left home at age fifteen and had a troubled childhood, to say the least, but one thing that always gave him peace was singing and this was a gift because it just came to him naturally.
At age twenty, something changed Roberts life forever, at the behest of his then girl friend he started singing in hotel bars during Saturday afternoon jams in Edmonton Alberta, there he realized something wonderful happened when he opened his mouth and sang. All of a sudden people would stop talking and listen, they wanted to talk to him and tell him how much they enjoyed his voice, this was the relationship he had always craved. After many talent shows and jams, he was approached by Fisher Music Agency to front a band and the rest is as they say history. Robert cut his teeth fronting many bar bands and traveling across Canada. Then he was hired to work as an actor in Celebrations Dinner Theatre, as well as performing in many tribute shows.
The now Medicine Hat Alberta based, Canadian singer-songwriter and performer have delighted audiences everywhere from the U.S.A. to Mexico, London England, Sydney Australia—and, of course, throughout his native Canada. Robert has made a name for himself with a one man act An Evening With The Legends, also known as Larrabee Live! audience members call “a great mix of music, talent and humor” that keeps you “laughing, dancing and smiling all night long” Robert has been a sought after Corporate Entertainer for the last twenty years.
Now Robert has turned his attention to his life long dream of becoming an original artist bringing with him over twenty years of stage experience, to his new all original project. Robert has been blessed to write with top Billboard charting Nashville song writer Jess Cates. Chris Rodriguez the guitar player for Keith Urban also played and sang back up on several tracks. In 2012 Robert completed seven songs with Jess Cates and three with his brother Chad Cates who is known as one of Nashville's best Christian song writers, in 2013 three songs will be promoted to radio across Canada.
“Nothing moves people like music, especially when it’s connected to a special time or place in their lives, I want my music to be a part of a connection like that.”
Unique traits: Robert has performed as dozens of actors and entertainers in his one man show An Evening With The Legends but in 2018 he starred as a one eyed German crime boss in the independent movie Valerie, shot in Calgary Alberta. Then in 2020 while under Covid lock down, Robert wrote his own Screen Play, That's Bob in which Robert performed over 12 characters, and produced the movie, all in front of his home green screen sound stage. This movie went on to win seven international film festivals. You can now watch Robert Larrabee That's Bob on you tube.
