Jer Paulin is a filmmaker based in New York City. Born in Buffalo and raised between upstate New York and Florida, he grew up on Star Wars, Monty Python, Saturday Night Live, and Terms of Endearment — which explains a lot. He graduated from the now-defunct Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale (shut down for fraud), which feels oddly on-brand once you’ve read his new script.
After moving to NYC, he couch-surfed through the music scene before discovering his true calling: film… and sleeping in a real bed. His work has been featured by GQ, Opening Ceremony, Rookie, and The FADER, and he’s directed and edited branded content for Tumblr, Rap Genius, Glossier, and more.
His horror-thriller screenplays have placed in multiple competitions, recognized for their voice and tension. Bring Joy In is his first feature-length dramedy — a deeply personal, semi-autobiographical story.
