Frank Eugene Hall

I'm a southern boy who found entrepreneurial and creative freedom in the Pacific NW. Originally a software engineer, I became a project manager and then a business consultant helping to launch technology startups and helping them raise serious money from investors in the US and Europe.

Along the way my interests expanded from software and web services into digital media, and I even started a company to put indie films online in a perpetual online film festival, back when indie film makers thought video-on-demand was the death knell for their films.

As I made friends in the independent film community I realized that most indie film makers REALLY SUCK at money:
* Raising investment for their films (because they don't know how to communicate with investors or provide them with what they need to make a decision, and they're also too slapdash about crowdfunding)
* Planning and working to a realistic budget because it seems seems hard or scary or anti-creative, and is easy to ignore if starvation is the only thing you know
* Generating revenue from their films (because they don't understand how to attach sales and distribution early, to intelligently launch, to arrange for marketing, or to build a base and a buzz)

... and then they don't strike while the iron is hot because they become too interested in making their NEXT film, as if that will somehow be better. If only they realized that by asking for help and attracting a team that makes their current film as successful as possible, they are already making their NEXT film -- and their experience making it -- far more successful and enjoyable for all concerned.

So that is what I'm about.
