MISCHIEF AND MAYHEM

MISCHIEF AND MAYHEM
By Joseph Murkijanian

GENRE: Comedy, Drama
LOGLINE:

Two demons—banished from Hell for underperformance—are forced to live on Earth in the bodies of hot, athletic high schoolers. Hating each other and clueless about human life, they scramble to win souls before their time runs out… or they risk becoming human themselves.

SYNOPSIS:

Meet Mischief and Mayhem—formerly feared agents of demonic chaos, now Heaven's most embarrassing punchlines. After failing to deliver their quarterly soul quotas, Lucifer humiliates them with a punishment worse than fire: exile to Earth, in the form of teenagers.

Dumped in suburbia with fake transcripts, gym-class body odor, and high school hormones, the two are mistakenly assumed to be either siblings or a couple—neither of which makes their mission any easier. Their goal? Corrupt as many humans as possible within six months… or lose their powers forever and be stuck in their mortal forms.

The problem? They hate each other. And they hate humans more.

But as they fumble through teen drama, TikTok culture, and algebra tests, cracks begin to form. Mischief starts falling for a lonely goth girl who believes she’s cursed. Mayhem—arrogant and aggressive—discovers football, popularity, and the sweet, sweet nectar of ego. The more they blend in, the more their demonic edge fades.

Hell wants results. The Archangels are watching. And worse, their high school principal might actually be a celestial spy.

As deadlines loom and identities blur, Mischief and Mayhem must choose: destroy the world they’re starting to like… or save it, and lose themselves in the process.

Dramatic Hooks & Themes:

  • Enemies Forced to Team Up: Classic buddy comedy tension as two polar opposites try to corrupt souls while constantly undermining each other.

  • Satirical Lens on Teen Life: From social media obsession to toxic masculinity to purity culture—modern high school is Hell, literally.

  • Identity and Redemption: The more Mischief and Mayhem experience human emotions—love, jealousy, fear—the more their mission unravels.

  • Supernatural Mayhem with Real Heart: Explosions, possession gags, haunted pep rallies—but the core is about transformation, self-worth, and what it means to have a soul.

  • Genre-Bending Appeal: Balances horror comedy with grounded emotional arcs, making it a perfect target for fans of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Heathers, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Why It Works: Mischief and Mayhem is a genre-bending rollercoaster with franchise potential. It’s a smart, irreverent, and subversive teen comedy that sneaks in philosophical questions beneath the blood and banter. With limited locations (mostly high school and suburban homes), practical FX, and a built-in Gen Z fanbase, it’s a low-to-mid-budget project tailor-made for streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, or A24’s TV division. Think Mean Girls from the depths of Hell—with a surprising soul.
