She goes to Mombasa, Kenya to work as a doctor. There, she meets Matu, a young African boy whose parents were murdered; he's now under the care of Francois, a French doctor. Linda has an unsatisfying affair with Francois, but she grows closer to Matu. However, she's still deep in grief. When she and Matu go on safari together, Linda has to make a dangerous and risky decision to get Matu to see a Lion, his favorite animal. On an impulse, she grabs his hand to run out of the truck to get closer to the lion. They make one step closer towards acceptance but Linda, unaware of her destiny, does not see what's coming.
