About Paul

I’m Paul Russell Smith, a screenwriter with 25+ years of experience bringing bold, character-driven stories to life. My work spans survival dramas, historical epics, period biopics, and intimate family dramas, blending emotional depth with sharp narrative drive.

My latest feature film, Grace Point — starring John Owen Lowe and Andrew McCarthy — premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and is now streaming on AppleTV and Amazon. Over my career, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning producers and writing projects for industry leaders like Mark Canton.

I began my creative journey while working as a union ironworker in NYC, balancing a blue-collar career with my passion for screenwriting — a combination that gives my work rare authenticity and grounded human insight. Today, I work with creators at all levels, from established producers to first-time filmmakers, helping turn big ideas into polished, pitch-ready scripts.

As part of my collaboration process, I also produce and host The Aquetong Table podcast, where I feature client interviews and professional table reads to showcase developing projects.

I’m currently open to select new collaborations and offer:
✅ You retain rights with shared credit
✅ Industry-level writing, development, and polish
✅ 100% original work — no AI, no shortcuts
✅ Bonus: Your script featured on The Aquetong Table podcast, with a live table read and personal interview about your creative journey

I work on a professional, paid basis and am happy to discuss rates based on project scope.
If you’re looking for a seasoned screenwriter to help elevate your project, feel free to message me — I’d love to hear about what you’re working on.
