Gary DeSomber

Been interested in films and acting all my life. I recall going to movies with my mom as young as 7 or 8. She loved movies. I was named after actor Gary Cooper. Started acting in high school plays. Never a lead, always small roles.
I enrolled in a Pasadena (Calif) Playhouse summer class in 1961. I returned to Iowa and attended Drake University (Des Moines Iowa) and majored in Drama/Speech. I went back to Los Angeles area after two years college but didn't have any success so back to Iowa. I pretty much acted only as a hobby in local theater productions and commercials as I had a family and worked full time as a claims adjuster.
After retiring I have been more involved in local film productions as writer (I served as President of ISA -Iowa Scriptwriters Alliance), director, producer of a few short films. A dozen 48 hour film festivals and similar projects. Currently have a full length feature script which I'm hoping to get produced.
