Avengers - Rescore exercise (trying something different)

This is not what I usually do, but I wanted to try something different. Rather than trying to match every cut and action beat in this Avengers scene, I wanted to test an original heroic cue that will be released on 7 August. The goal was to see how the music stands on its own while still supporting the picture, instead of being driven entirely by the edit. One thing I'm particularly interested in is whether the melodies communicate that heroic feeling. Personally, I feel the French horns help...

Mission: Impossible (1996) Rescore

Here's a look at the finished cue inside Cubase before it's married to picture. This project was a great exercise in thematic writing, orchestration, and hitting the dramatic beats of the scene while finding a musical identity of its own. Rescoring films is always a reminder that every cue is a balance between supporting the story and giving it a fresh perspective. I'd love to hear your thoughts! Created for educational and portfolio purposes only.

Mission: Impossible (1996) Rescore – Final Version

After sharing the behind-the-scenes process yesterday, I've now finished my rescore of this Mission: Impossible (1996) scene. I made several changes to improve the overall flow and dramatic impact. Some of the updates include refining the thematic material, adjusting the orchestration, improving the pacing around key hit points, and polishing the mix to better support the action on screen. One thing this project reinforced is just how challenging it is to rescore a film with such a strong...

Behind the scenes - Rescoring Mission Impossible

I spent today working on a new rescore of a scene from Mission: Impossible (1996). The cue isn't quite finished yet, but I thought it would be fun to share a little behind-the-scenes look at the process. One thing that quickly became apparent is just how difficult it is to rescore a film with such an iconic musical identity. Lalo Schifrin's Mission: Impossible theme is one of the most memorable themes ever written for film and television. Creating a completely new musical direction that still...

**Behind the Scenes – Rescoring *Mission: Impossible* (1996)**

I spent today working on a new rescore of a scene from Mission: Impossible (1996). The cue isn't quite finished yet, but I thought it would be fun to share a little behind-the-scenes look at the process. In this video, I walk through some of the creative decisions involved in scoring to picture, including: • Finding and creating hit points • Building thematic ideas and variations • Orchestration choices • Synchronizing the music with the action and pacing on screen A quick apology in...

Finding the Heartbeat of The Revenant – My Orchestral Rescore

One of my favorite ways to grow as a film composer is by rescoring scenes from great films. This is my latest score-to-picture exercise based on a scene from The Revenant. The original music has been completely removed, allowing me to build a new musical narrative from the ground up. Rather than trying to imitate the original score, my goal was to explore a different emotional perspective while remaining faithful to the pacing, tension, and storytelling on screen. Every cue was written to...

Sonic - The Hedgehog Rescore Exercise

Scoring to picture is one of my favourite parts of composing, and projects like this are a great way to experiment with storytelling through music.

Rescoring a Scene From Pixar's Up Movie

This is a personal score-to-picture exercise based on a scene from Pixar's Up. The original music has been removed, and I composed and produced an entirely new orchestral score to explore how music can support character, emotion, and storytelling. This project was created as part of my ongoing development as a film composer and reflects my approach to writing music that serves the narrative while respecting the pacing and emotional arc of the scene. Original film footage belongs to Disney/Pixar and is used here solely for portfolio and educational purposes.
