REMEMBER RYLEY STONE
By Erik Gagnon

GENRE: Mystery, Drama
LOGLINE:

When her best friend dies and names her executor of the estate, a first-time mother leaves her family to travel cross-country, distributing cryptic gifts to old friends, and discovers secrets that unravel her fragile state of mind.

SYNOPSIS:

The baby won't stop crying, and Amelia can't put him down. All day, every day. She can't take it anymore. And her phone keeps ringing, an unknown number from Arizona. Turns out to be an estate attorney, Forest Longfellow. Amelia's best friend from college, Ryley Stone, committed suicide by drowning herself in the bathtub. Even though Amelia hasn't spoken to Ryley in ten years and they parted on unfriendly terms, Ryley named Amelia executor of the estate. Despite her confusion of the situation and intimidation of the process, Amelia decides to accept the responsibility. She's hoping to gain closure over their fractured friendship, and it doesn't hurt that she'll get a break from her unbearable routine, if only for a few days.

Amelia leaves the baby in the care of her husband, Peter, and flies to Arizona in order to fulfill Ryley's final wishes. She closes accounts, pays bills, and bequeaths money to charities. But when she retrieves a box of mementos from a safe deposit unit, she learns that she must travel cross-country to distribute these gifts to old friends. Jack in Seattle gets an acorn; Shelly in Louisiana gets a pen; Daisy in Detroit gets a bracelet; Alfie in Kansas City gets a feather. Not only do the gifts hold cryptic meanings, but the journey itself compiles the mysteries. At each stop, Amelia's memories are challenged by alternate truths, and her fragile state of mind begins to unravel. By the time she returns to Arizona to complete the final task, sprinkling Ryley's ashes on the lake, the truth also sprinkles free and pushes Amelia toward her tragic end.
