About Siafa

Siafa Manequi is a Ghanaian cinephile, self-trained filmmaker, writer, artist and music blogger. His projects are thought-provoking and explore themes of identity, mental health, sexuality, grief, loss of innocence, dysfunctional families, social and environmental issues, among others .

Siafa's work often blends elements of drama, documentary, and experimental filmmaking, showcasing his unique perspective and creative approach.

In 2024, Siafa Manequi co-directed the short documentary ADWUMA (Hustle) with German filmmaker Dario Wendt. The film offers an intimate look at daily life in Accra,
Ghana, through the experiences of Gifty, a resilient fruit vendor, and Chocolate, a charismatic barber. Shot in guerrilla style, ADWUMA captures authentic encounters and the spontaneous rhythms of small-scale business and urban life.

In 2021, he directed the short film Butterfly’s Sting, which explores mental health and sexuality.

Through personal narratives, interviews and vivid cinematography, the documentary seeks to celebrate not only the hustle but the human spirit that propels it. Hustle was born out of a desire to elevate these everyday stories, shining a light on lives often unseen yet filled with strength, hope, and dignity.
